Alabama is filled with some pretty amazing dining establishments. From barbecue restaurants and steakhouses, to seafood restaurants and pizzerias, Alabama has it all! Listed below are 10 restaurants in Alabama with food so delicious that it’s worth waiting in line for.

5. The Bright Star Restaurant

The Bright Star Restaurant opened in 1907 and is Alabama's oldest restaurant. This historic restaurant, which specializes in Greek-style steak and seafood, attracts people from near and far. It's a definite must-visit if you're ever in the Bessemer area. (304 N 19th St)

4. Big Mike's Steakhouse

For the juiciest steaks in Thomasville, the locals will tell you to visit Big Mike's Steakhouse. Big Mike's is one of Alabama's best steakhouses and after one visit, you'll understand why it's a local favorite. (33215 US-43)

3. Rally’s

Originally separate companies serving different geographic areas with Checkers serving the Southeast and Rally’s serving the Midwest, Checkers and Rally’s merged in August 1999. Generally-speaking, the Checkers name remains used in the Southeast as well as the Northeast while the Rally’s name remains used in the Midwest as well as California; the two brands have overlap in several areas.

The merged company is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Checkers was founded in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama, by Jim Mattei and went public in 1991. Get More Rally's menus and price

2. CHRIS’ HOT DOGS

Chris’ Hot Dogs is the oldest family-owned and run restaurant in Montgomery, having been in business for more than 100 years. Their hot dogs were delicious – whatever’s in their sauce enhances the taste.

The burger I had was also good, as were their crinkle fries, but their hot dogs are where it’s at – unsurprising given the restaurant’s name.

1. MARTIN’S RESTAURANT

The day of our self-guided walking tour of Montgomery, Janine in the visitor center made a few suggestions of places to eat in the state capital.

One of those was Martin’s Restaurant, an eatery known for serving meat & three – your choice of meat and three sides. Awards for its fried chicken adorned its walls, so that’s what Shae and I both ordered.

They deserve the awards as the fried chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. The southern sides were also tasty – I went for the mashed potatoes & gravy, string beans and coleslaw.
